Abstract

This Instruction reissues DoD Instruction 1312.1 dated July 27, 1981, to implement policy and update responsibilities and procedures for the collection and maintenance of military and civilian occupational information to meet DoD requirements; authorizes the continued publication of DoD 1312.1-I to maintain a DoD occupation coding structure that groups similar Service occupations from one or more publications into a logical and consistent structure suitable for a variety of analytical purposes; directs establishment of a DoD-level master occupational data base (ODB) to provide standardized information on Service occupational classification codes and crosswalks to Federal government and private sector civilian occupational classifications; and establishes the DoD Military Occupational Classification Joint Service Working Group.
