Eat Your Operational Art, Young Man!

Abstract

For the newly initiated, the subject of operational art can be hard to swallow. This is because the official definitions are ambiguous and the general usage of the term is often erroneous. These problems can lead to such a misunderstanding of the concept that it is ignored, such as in published Navy doctrine. This paper attempts to refine the definition/concept of operational art and serve it up as an enticing dish for any Naval Officer.
