Riding the Tiger: Exploiting the Revolution in Military Affairs to Transform the Battlefield.

Abstract

Technological change in the Information Age will bring fundamental changes to how land warfare is conducted. The ongoing Revolution in Military Affairs will require fundamental revisions of warfighting doctrine, and supporting tactics, techniques and procedures. To fully harness the benefits of technological change, military institutions must transform warfighting methodology to optimize digital and automated systems. At the same time, doctrine and tactics must be modified to accommodate a far more lethal combat environment. The technology exists today to begin this process of transformation through the use of constructive and virtual simulations, supported by live experimentation with evolving digital systems.
