Updating Data Bases for Modeling Army College Fund and Montgomery GI Bill.

Abstract

This note describes the Army College Fund (ACF) and the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) data bases and the updating process. The ACF data base contains longitudinal records of soldiers who enlisted in the Army and enrolled in the ACF program between fiscal years 1981 (FY81) and 1985. This data base includes educational benefit program participation and usage information, demographic characteristics, attrition and reenlistment data, and other personal and career history data elements. The ACF data base is updated annually. The MGIB data base contains information on soldiers who enlisted and enrolled in the new educational assistance program, MGIB program that was implemented on 1 July 1985. This data base, which is updated quarterly, includes demographic data and educational benefit participation and usage information.
