Information Analysis Centers in the Department of Defense. Revision

Abstract

The Department of Defense Information Analysis Centers(IACs) have been assisting the research, development, and engineering efforts of the defense community for over forty years by analyzing, repackaging, and disseminating highly technical information in specialized subject areas to a select community. An overview of the IACs is presented, including an analysis of the IAC concept, followed by a brief history of the DoD IACs and an examination of some of the issues of concern to DoD IACs. IACs are not without their problems; nevertheless, they continue to have a significant role in the transfer of scientific and technical information.
