Eye-Safe 2-Micron Laser Communications System.

Abstract

This paper summarizes the Wright Laboratory In-house Laboratory Independent Research (ILIR) conducted to develop an eye safe laser communication system which is minimally affected by atmospheric turbulence and absorption. Details concerning the 8 kilometer pulsed laser communications link established between the Wright-Patterson AFB Trebein site and Area B, building 620, Laser Communications Laboratory (LCL) are described.
