Coating Selection Program.

Abstract

A rational and direct method has been developed for selecting the optical coating pattern for the external surface of a spacecraft, such that the spacecraft temperatures are as close as possible to the midpoint of their preselected ranges. The temperature control is maintained passively by radiation and conduction, using no active control devices. The complete range in mission environments is considered in the optimization procedure. The selection technique has been programmed for use on the GE 600 Series, IBM 7094, or any other computer that uses the standard IBM Fortran IV system.
