Aerodynamic Design Research of the Gas Vane of a Solid Rocket,

Abstract

Several issues involved in the aerodynamic design of the gas vane of a solid rocket, such as jet flowfield analysis, material selection and property analysis, theoretical configuration and aerodynamic characteristics design, as well as wind tunnel tests of the gas vane model and force measurement tests of a full-scale vane during rocket engine firing, etc., are presented. Integration of aerodynamic characteristics with strength, stiffness, as well as ablation value of the vane will make development of gas vanes more smooth.
