Waves in Cylindrical Systems.

Abstract

This report is a study of the propagation of acoustical waves in contiguous fluid and elastic cylinders. A transfer matrix approach is used to develop models of a fluid cylinder, a fluid tube, the external medium, and thin elastic shells. An analytical and experimental investigation of the dispersion of transient impulses in thin elastic shells is presented using transform techniques and joint time-frequency distributions.
