Abstract

This Instruction reissues DoD Instruction 1205.12, dated January 15, 1969, to update implementation policy, assign responsibilities, and prescribe procedures for informing Service members who are covered by the provisions of Chapter 43 of Title 38, United States Code, and individuals who apply for uniformed service, or their civilian employment and reemployment rights, benefits and obligations. It implements Chapter 43 of Title 38, United States Code, which updated, codified and strengthened the civilian employment and reemployment rights and benefits of Service members and individuals who apply for uniformed service, and specifies the obligations of Service members and applicants for uniformed service.
