Equipment Enhancement for Fundamental Research on Reclaimed/Recyclable Paving Materials.

Abstract

The main objective of this project is to acquire laboratory equipment developed under the Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP). The use of the facility is geared towards (1) understanding the pertinence and importance of different rheological parameters of traditional paving and other recyclable materials, as related to performance-based design procedures and (2) performing basic research to understand the constitutive models related to viscoelastic, dynamic and nonlinear behavior of these materials. A upper-division course entitled 'Pavement Materials Characterization' is using the equipment as a teaching tool. Two research projects, funded by the Texas Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration, have also been extensively using the facility. p2
