Lesson from the Dardanelles.

Abstract

Lessons from the Dardanelles examines Britain's failure in the Dardanelles Campaign/Gallipoli invasion in Turkey during the First World War; it uses this historical example to illustrate: the dangers of an inadequate military strategy; the perils of undertaking a major military operation without a sound operational plan; the barriers that exist to communication between political and military leaders; and the danger of conditioned obedience as a cultural norm of the military services.
