An Assessment of Patient Satisfaction with Health Care Delivered at Ireland Army Community Hospital.
Abstract
THIS SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN ORDER TO ASCERTAIN THE OVERALL DEGREE OF SATISFACTION OF A POPULATION OF BENEFICIARIES USING HEALTH SERVICES AT IRELAND ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL. DATA WERE COLLECTED USING A SELF-ADMINISTERED, MAILED QUESTIONNAIRE TO A SAMPLE OF 979 PATIENTS, WITH A RESULTANT RESPONSE RATE OF 46.9%. OVERALL SATISFACTION WAS GOOD, WITH A MEAN SCORE OF 2.55 ON A FIVE-POINT SCALE (1=EXCELLENT, 5=POOR). THE CATEGORY OF ACCESS SCORED LOWEST, WITH 'BASE OF MAKING APPOINTMENTS' BEING THE SINGLE LOWEST- SCORING ITEM. RESPONDENTS, IN THEIR FIFTIES, AND THOSE USING CHAMPUS AS THEIR PRIMARY SOURCE OF HEALTH CARE WERE THE LEAST SATISFIED BENEFICIARIES. MOST OFT-CITED AREAS IN NEED OF IMPROVEMENT WERE THE APPOINTMENT SYSTEM, THE EMERGENCY ROOM, AND STAFF COURTESY.
