Further Improvements on PLZT Based Microstructure for Optical Switching: A High Efficiency Electro-Optic Grating Switch.

Abstract

A high diffraction efficiency electro-optic grating switch based on a Lanthanum-modified lead zirconate titanate ceramic wafer is presented. This grating has the advantages of low intrinsic diffraction loss, high zeroth-order light on/off ratio, and fast time response due to employing narrow contour-shaped metal electrodes instead of the commonly used indium tin oxide interdigital electrodes. The zeroth-order light can be turned off with a voltage of 160V.
