Evaluation of the Homogeneity of Cloud Cover Climatology in Large Scale Regions.

Abstract

This technical note documents a study AFCCC completed to evaluate the homogeneity of cloud cover distributions within 19 regions known as Consolidated Evaluation Groupings (CEGs). The sizes of these CEGs vary widely and are composed of a variable number of smaller regions known as Post Mission Evaluation regions (PMEs). AFCCC computed the monthly cloud-cover frequency distribution for each of the CEGs and PMEs from the Air Force's Real Time Nephanalysis (RTNEPH) database. In addition, AFCCC conducted a statistical comparison of the PMEs within each CEG to measure the homogeneity of the cloud climatology.
