Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP),

Abstract

This Directive reissues DoD Directive 1000.4, dated November25, 1980, to update policy and responsibilities for the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) under Executive Order 12642. It continues to implement Executive Order 12642 wherein the Secretary of Defense is named the 'Presidential designee'and assigned responsibility for oversight of the FVAP under Sections 1973ff- l973ff-6 of title 42, United States Code. This Directive also continues to assign responsibility and delegate authority to the Director of Administration and Management, Office of the Secretary of Defense (DA&M, OSD), to carry out the FVAP for the Secretary of Defense, consistent with DoD Directive 5105.53 and DoD Directive 1344.13.
