Underground Storage Tank Subsurface Site Investigation Report: Former UST, Building 1608 Site.

Abstract

This Subsurface Site Investigation (S SI) Report presents the results of investigation activities conducted at the 151st Air Refueling Wing (ARW), Utah Air National Guard (ANG) Base, Salt Lake City, Utah, On 3 September 1993, a 30-year old, 2,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) (state leaking UST identifier - Facility ID #4001640, Release Site EIMB) was removed, along with the associated piping (151st ARWIEM, 1993). The tank was located on the north side of Building 1608, which is situated on the south end of the Utah ANG Base, on the northeast corner of 2nd Street and F Street (Figure 1.1). The tank was used for jet fuel (JP-4) storage at the Aerospace Ground Equipment Facility (151St ARWI Environmental Management (EM) Office, 1993). The results of the investigation indicated petroleum contamination existed in site soils at levels exceeding the Utah Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) site Level II Recommended Cleanup Levels (RCLs) for soil and state MCLs for groundwater contamination.
