Contents --- CYCLE TIME - A MILITARY IMPERATIVE: Emphasis on 'minimum cycle time' and Integrated Product Teams can produce striking improvements for DoD in product quality, significant reduction in product cost, and more rapid new product introduction; THE SYSTEM ARCHITECT ROLE IN ACQUISITION PROGRAM INTEGRATED PRODUCT TEAMS: Appointing overall system architects as leaders to IPTs in DoD acquisition programs would ensure design flexibility, use of advanced technology, enhanced system functionality, and improved tradeoffs between cost and performance. DAWIA AND THE PRICE OF PROFESSIONALISM: Professionalism, created by DAWIA, has built an acquisition workforce that is expert and specialized, yet insular and careerist.
