Determinants of African-American Women's Participation in Breast Cancer Prevention Research.

Abstract

Decisions to participate in breast cancer prevention (BCP) research and perform BCP behavior occur within the context of beliefs, perceptions, social roles and economic realities. The purpose of this research is to identify and explore factors influencing African American women's (AAW) willingness and intention to participate in BCP research and practice BCP behavior. During the second year of funding, findings from the focus group discussions were validated by original focus group participants.
