FY97 Air Vehicles Technology Area Plan.

Abstract

Air vehicle technology spans multiple technical disciplines to provide the Air Force and our nation with innovative solutions to both near and far-term defense needs. Our scientists and researchers work in Integrated Product Terms (IPTs) that design, develop and provide optimum air combat capabilities. The IPTs, the TMP and the Mission Area Plans(MAPs), generated in coordination with the warfighter communities, ensure the emphasis of Research Development Test & Evaluation RDT&E) is focused on the areas of greatest need. Affordability is paramount and is given utmost consideration in all phases of RDT&E within the Air Vehicles Technology Area. During a time of declining budgets and resources, we are challenged to maintain and provide critical technologies, ensuring the nation's superior defense capabilities. We developed a strategic plan for Air Vehicles RDT&E to ensure we can maintain our leadership role, and to build a foundation for continuing excellence into the future
