Combat Ration Advanced Manufacturing Technology Demonstration Implementation of Integrated Manufacturing

Abstract

An integrated design for the CRAMTD Pouch Line was successfully developed and implemented. The design brings together the control of the filling, packaging, and crate loading operations under a single controller. The design provides a complete level 2 control system through the implementation of a production line controller ('Centralized Control Station'), which can be implemented as a stand alone module. The design also provides hooks to level 3 and level 4 automation through the implementation of a shop floor SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) node. These demonstrations showed that this integrated design is feasible and could be considered by an industrial company for implementation in a commercial plant.
