High Fidelity Modeling and Imaging for Tactical and Strategic Applications.

Abstract

During this reporting period we commenced the Phase II efforts by developing some of the key Real time Retargeting Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for tactical aircraft. A draft copy of the CONOPS for TACAIR was sent to Naval Strike & Air Warfare Center for their review and comment. Initial comments from NSARC were favorable and written documentation of their comments are due in December 96. Visualization concepts to support Real Time Monitoring of the strike are under way with an initial prototype of a 2D view of the battle area and visualization of the key features to support a strike. 3D visualization concepts are underway with methodologies to view an entire strike including terrain modeling, and visualization of features such as Aircraft visualization of out of cockpit scenes has been developed with visualizations of surface threat locations and their static with regard to each individual aircraft defined by arrows and their colors, depicting their threat posture. For example, a SAM site where the site has locked on to the aircraft would shoot a red arrow at the SAM site, indicating that the aircrew must take immediate action to counter the threat.
