Unstable Resonator Semiconductor Lasers Below Threshold.

Abstract

This report documents an investigation of the unique spontaneous emission patterns observed from two dimensional unstable resonators fabricated on semiconductor diode lasers. Both geometrical and modal analysis lead to similar conclusions: these quasi modes below threshold may be useful in manufacturing diagnostics, but have little influence on the behavior of laser (above threshold) operation.
