Technical Report - Study Services for Analysis of the Air Force Systems Modification Process and Policies.

Abstract

This technical report contains the final project report for Analysis of the Air Force Modification Process and Policies. The Air Force modification process provides a vehicle for initiating, tracking, and implementing modifications to Air Force configured items. It offers ways to correct deficiencies, extend the life, and improve the capabilities of existing Air Force systems, equipment, and munitions. The Air Force modifications process was perceived to be lengthy and complex. Thorough analysis of the modifications process was necessary in order to identify disconnects and improve program execution. The Air Force selected the Integrated Definition Language 0 (IDEFO) methodology to assist in this analysis. This methodology is the standard JLSC and DoD industrial engineering tool used to model existing DoD program processes. Synergy was tasked to support the Modifications Process Working Group (MPWG) by facilitating IDEF modeling workshops, performing analysis, and distributing information kits to Working Group members. The result of this analysis, an AS-IS IDEFO Activity Model, will serve as a foundation for future analysis.
