Technical Improvements at the Rear Part of the Dynamical Testing System (DTI) (Technische verbeteringen aan het staartstuk van de DTI).

Abstract

Some minor mechanical failures at the rear of the DTI were analyzed. Two different malfunctions were identified. The first one comprises the breaking of too short bolts attaching the aluminum/bronze guide rails at the main construction. The remedy is the introduction of elasticity in this connection. The second problem, causing other bolts to break, is generated by the hammering of the moving part onto the static construction as a result of poor braking performance. This is a serious problem. A preliminary advice with respect to a local redesign was presented.
