Summary Report on the Development of Electrometer Radiation Instruments,

Abstract

About eight months ago work was started on the development of a quartz fiber electrometer for use in portable radiation measuring equipment. The following is a report on the characteristics and method of construction of the electrometer and on the various types of instruments which have been built around this electrometer unit. The report is divided as follows: (1) Construction Techniques of the Electrometer; (2) Properties of the Electrometer; (3) Types of Instruments: Gamma-Beta Ray Survey Meter, Small Gamma Ray Survey Meter, Pocket Electrometer Dosimeter, Fast Neutron-Gamma Ray Survey Meter, Alpha Ray Meter, Direct Reading Gamma Ray Survey Meter, Laboratory Type Gamma Ray Meter, Air Tight Pocket Chamber, and Projection Type Electrometer Unit.
