Armed Services Blood Program (ASBP) Operational Procedures.

Abstract

This Instruction implements policy, assigns responsibilities and prescribes procedures under DoD Directive 6000.12 to carry on the responsibilities of the ASBP during peacetime, contingency, and wartime operations; reissues DoD Instruction 6480.4, dated March 19, 1982; establishes the requirement for publishing and/or procurement and utilization by military blood bank (BB) facilities of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) Standards; establishes the requirement for procurement and use by military BB elements of Title 21 of the CFR; defines the responsibilities of the Secretary of the Army as the DoD Executive Agent for the ASBPO, and defines review and guidance responsibilities of the CJCS; defines the responsibilities of the Secretary of the Air Force as the DoD Executive Agent for ASWBPL and the BTCs and/or the TBTCs.
