National Hotline Expansion.

Abstract

The Heat Treating Network's HOTLINE was developed in response to the immediate technical needs of commercial heat treaters and users of heat treating. The original HOTLINE was a regional (state of Ohio) communications network. The HOTLINE's purpose is to provide responsive (real time) solutions to short term problems. Specifically, problems which can primarily be solved without requiring face-to-face interaction. This includes names of suppliers, contacts for parts and services, and other customer needs. This project expanded the existing HOTLINE into a National Hotline Information Center. It includes computer hardware and software upgrades, and also includes marketing efforts to promote this service to the metalworking industry. The goal was to make the HOTLINE the recognized focal point for solving problems and addressing the technology needs of the field of heat treating for the metalworking industry in the United States.
