Het ontwikkelen van een verspuitbare sealer voor het verfsysteem met de aangroeiweren de verf VC-6-2 (Development Sealer Spray, Appropriate for the Paint System with the Antifouling Paint VC-6-2).

Abstract

In a previous project a new sealer was developed for the Royal Dutch Navy to be used as an intermediate layer between the anticorrosive paint coaltar epoxy Compact TC and the antifouling paint VC-6-2. At the same time tributytin (2% w/w) was added to the VC-6-2 to increase its antifouling performance. In the actual report the results of practical application of the system (on a segment of the underwater surface of the HR.Ms de Ruyter) are given. Due to particular navy circumstances the inspection has been performed after four year. This period is considered too long for a realistic and adequate evaluation. The antifouling performance after four years appears to be only satisfactory only on a small part of the test surface, there are indications that this can be attributed to the application of the system. A recommendation is to omit the tributytin.
