Abstract

The Military Personnel, Marine Corps Appropriation provides financial resources to compensate active military personnel required to support the approved force structure. The Appropriation also includes funds for retired pay accrual, unemployment compensation and social security benefits for widow and orphans of military personnel. These entitlement were approved by the Congress and enacted via Public Law. The tables in Sections 1 through 4 contain budget data for Pay and Allowances of Officers and Enlisted; Subsistence of Enlisted personnel; Permanent Change of Station Travel; and Other Military Personnel Costs. Retired pay accrual, social security benefits and the CONUS COLA are reflected in the Pay and Allowances of Officers and Enlisted personnel, as appropriate. Unemployment compensation is under Other Military Personnel Costs. The budget activity structure and detailed justification demonstrates how the military personnel program is managed and controlled. It displays the inventory of officers and enlisted personnel with associated workyears. This budget provides for a Marine Corps active duty end strength of 174,000. This force structure permits us to fulfill our charter as a versatile expeditionary force-in-readiness, capable of rapidly responding to global contingencies.
