1997 Federal Aviation Administration Plan for Research, Engineering, & Development.

Abstract

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Plan for research, engineering and development (R,E&D) is published in response to statutory requirements to provide an annual report to Congress on the FAA's R,E&D program to ensure continued safety, security, capacity, and efficiency of aviation in the United States. The research programs selected for inclusion in the R,E&D program portfolio are those needed to bring the FAA's vision of the future system to reality in the context of a continuing top-level system engineering process. The FAA's R,E&D program has received contributions from across the spectrum of scientific, operational, and user communities. These contributions from both inside and outside government are always welcome, provide valuable inputs, and are greatly appreciated. bring the FAA's vision of the future system to reality in the context of a continuing top-level system engineering process.
