TRICARE: Understanding The Military's Changing Health Care System,

Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is to examine the background of how military medicine was available to beneficiaries in the past, significant changes in military health care, the current state of the Military Health Services System (MHSS), and a look at proposals for future changes and improvements. Following the national trend toward managed health care, military medicine is undergoing a total quality emphasized change to significantly improve everyday health care delivery while recognizing the need to ensure access to secure quality health care benefits, control costs, and respond to changing national military and health care priorities.
