Proceedings, Second North American Workshop on Modeling the Mechanics of Off-Road Mobility.

Abstract

During a 3-day period, beginning March 13, 1996, the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES), Mobility Systems Division, hosted a workshop to solicit expert opinions on where the virtual proving grounds are today and where they will be in the future. Three questions were asked at the start of the workshop: (1) what are today's capabilities in off-road virtual environments, (2) where the virtual proving grounds will be in the next 5 years, (3) and what are the technical barriers that would prevent these goals? WES invited leaders for the Industry, University, and Government to work together for 3 days to give their opinions and lend their technical expertise on the answers to these questions. This report documents the proceedings of that workshop.
