Habitat Suitability Index Models: Longnose Sucker,

Abstract

A review and synthesis of existing information was used to develop riverine and lacustrine habitat models for Longnose sucker (Catostomus catostomus) a freshwater species. The models are scaled to produce an index of habitat suitability between 0 (unsuitable habitat) and 1 (optimally suitable habitat) for freshwater areas of the continental United States. Habitat Suitability indices (HSI's) are designed for use with Habitat Evaluation Procedures previously developed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
