Opportunities to Protect Instream Flows in Michigan and Wisconsin.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this series of documents is to point out the opportunities in instream flow management that currently exist so that planners and managers can anticipate development, plan appropriate programs, and evaluate the costs and benefits of certain courses of action. In addition, the reports are brief histories of the level of success of various State programs. The use of this information can be a significant cost saving for planners and managers. In summary, each document has an Executive Summary which discusses its purpose, uses, and limitations. Each document also has separate information tables which summarize the contents for each State. It is hoped that the research represented in these documents will provide the kind of overview and preliminary evaluation that will ease the burden of State, local, or Federal planners and managers as they seek to meet their increasingly complex responsibilities.
