1982 National Fisheries Survey. Volume I. Technical Report: Initial Findings,

Abstract

This report presents initial results of the National Fisheries Survey, an assessment of the biological condition of the Nation's waters conducted jointly by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in 1982. Sport fish species, Federally-designated threatened and endangered fish species, and State designated fish species of special concern were used as indicators of biological status. For the purposes of this Survey, the Nation's waters were defined as all flowing, freshwater streams and rivers and their associated impoundments in the 48 United States.
