An Overview of Hard-Kill Active-Armour Systems (Een overzicht van hard-kill actieve pantsersystemen).

Abstract

This report gives an overview of hard kill active armor systems. These systems are intended to protect the vehicle on which they are placed. They detect an incoming threat (e.g. an antitank missile) and try to minimize or fully eliminate the effects of this threat by some physical contact. This physical contact can be accomplished by firing for example a fragmenting projectile, EFP's or shaped charges, or plates. Although many systems of this kind have been found in the open literature, few have left the experimental stage to become an actual product.
