Biology and Conservation of the Endangered Interior Least Tern: A Literature Review.

Abstract

A literature review of the least tern (Sterna antillarum) was conducted with a special emphasis on the Federally endangered interior population. This bird's taxonomy, description, life history, range, present status, factors affecting population levels, and management methods were reviewed and summarized. This was done in order to bring together the wide variety of information that has been gathered on this species of importance to resource managers concerned with the species preservation and management.
