Experiments in Aggregating Air Ordnance Effectiveness Data for the TACWAR Model.

Abstract

An interactive MS Access(TM) based application that aggregates the output of the SABSEL model for input into the TACWAR model is developed. The application was developed following efforts to create a functional approximation of the SABSEL data using neural networks, statistical networks, and traditional statistical techniques. These approximations were compared to a look-up table methodology on the basis of accuracy, (RMSE <0.01), speed (runs in minutes) and compactness (storage requirement). The method best satisfying these criteria, the look-up table, was used as the basis from which the application was constructed. Results from the comparison of the function approximation techniques give insight as to the strengths and weaknesses of each technique.
