A Simulated Analysis of the Accessibility to Healthcare Services in Ireland Army Community Hospital through the Patient Appointment System.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine if the PAS is an obstacle to beneficiaries seeking care at IACH and does this inhibit the facility from meeting the patient access standards as prescribed by the TRICARE program. Through simulation this study attempts to determine the operational efficiency of the patient appointment system (PAS) identified in the facility's business plan to continue functioning after implementation of the Region 5 TRICARE contract. The simulation will also serve in the near future as a mechanism for managers of the facility to test proposed solutions to improve PAS operations. Lastly, the simulation provides evidence to dispel the associated with the PAS which has made it a source of dissatisfaction with the facility's staff and beneficiary population.
