Diplomatic Recognition. Plenary Power of the President

Abstract

As Constitutional leader of the Nation's Armed Forces, the President can muster a mighty military response to defend American interests. Decision making in the White House embraces a massive responsibility, particularly in the field of foreign affairs. To that end, the extension of diplomatic recognition to a sister nation by the President is one of his more important prerogatives. There is no question that Presidential power of recognition is absolute and entirely within Executive discretion.
