Theater Missile Defense: Building Synergy For The Operational Commander.

Abstract

To apply the four operational pillars of Theater Missile Defense, we need to capitalize on the synergistic effect that is created with an integrated approach vice a stovepipe approach. The Army Theater Missile Defense Flement and the Navy Cooperative Engagement Capability are the keys to integrating the services' TMD capabilities. The author first addresses the current TMD Threat and current TMD Doctrine. A detailed discussion of The Army Theater Missile Defense Element (ATMDE) and the Navy's Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) follows. Finally, the author discusses the advantages of tying these platforms together as well a short discussion of other issues which need to be addressed.
