Present Worth Factors for Life-Cycle Cost Studies in the Department of Defense (1993),

Abstract

This document provides 45 tables of present worth factors to be used in computing the present worth of future costs (or cost reductions) in economic analyses of design decisions for projects in the DoD Military Construction Program. These factors are especially useful for the life cycle cost analysis of investments in buildings or building systems which are intended to reduce future operating, maintenance, repair, replacement, and energy costs over the life of the facility. The tables include present worth factors for both one-time costs and annually recurring costs, based on the FEMP discount rate of 4.0% (FY 1993) for energy related studies and on the 0MB discount rate of 10.0% for non-energy studies. Forecasts of future energy prices used in the calculation of present worth factors for energy costs were provided by the Energy Information Administration.
