Fracture Analysis of Diamond Material.

Abstract

Polycrystalline CVD diamond disks were fractured in ball-on-ring loading. Fracture surface analysis was performed on the fractured specimens using both optical and scanning electron microscopy. Fracture surface analysis was used to locate and measure the size of the failure initiating critical flaws in over 60 specimens.
