Paying Personal Property Transportation Contracts at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service-Indianapolis Center.

Abstract

The Military Traffic Management Command is reengineering the way DoD purchases personal property transportation services; procuring those services using Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) contracts. It also plans to centralize the payment process at the Defense Finance and Accounting Service-Indianapolis Center (DFAS-IN). This report identifies the issues that DFAS-IN needs to resolve before it can pay transportation FAR contracts and presents an operating concept for paying those bills using electronic data interchange (EDI) and electronic funds transfer (EFT).
