Study of Bose-Einstein Condensation of an Almost Ideal Gas.

Abstract

The proposal contained the following goals: Study of properties of Bose-Einstein condensates of sodium atoms, in particular the observation of collective excitations; Development of methods to probe the condensate optically and of a magnetic trap to control the shape of the condensate.
