Stand van zaken Focusprogramma Soldier Modernisation (Progress Report Focus Programme Soldier Modernisation).

Abstract

This report gives an update on the status of the Focus program Soldier Modernization in the middle of 1996. The objective of the Focus program is to increase the effectiveness of the Dutch dismounted soldier system. The Focus program is concerned with the future technological possibilities of developing an integrated soldier system. The following goals have to be met: (1) to prepare planning and develop projects; (2) to analyze and evaluate Dutch equipment and scenarios; (3) to evaluate international SMP developments; (4) to participate in NATO SMP efforts. During the year, three focus projects started: definition of the Soldier Day; improvement of the situational awareness of the dismounted soldier system and his squad; disconnected rifle. The report contains a chapter dealing with international and multilateral efforts on Soldier Modernization. The aim of that chapter is to gain insight into international developments in order to define promising possibilities for The Netherlands to participate in international programs.
