Dissertations Initiative for the Advancement of Limnology and Oceanography (DIALOG). Dissertation Abstracts 1 June 1992 - 1 September 1994.

Abstract

The DIALOG Program was founded by the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO), in order to reduce the historical, institutional and philosophical barriers that limit the exchange of information between limnologists and oceanographers, and to foster interdisciplinary and inter-institutional research. This was achieved by targeting a recent cohort of Ph.D. recipients whose work included a biological component of limnology or oceanography. The program included: *Publication of the submitted Ph.D. dissertation abstracts; *a symposium to facilitate exchange across institutions and disciplines; *establishment of a centralized data base for applicant characterization and tracking.
