Differences Between Length of Stay and Healthcare Costs When Compared with Traditional and Clinical Path Management.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the relationship of clinical pathways to length of stay (LOS) and healthcare costs in an Air Force Medical Center when compared to traditional care. This study compared clinical pathway client management with traditional client management of two medical diagnoses in two different populations: pediatric reactive airway disease/asthma treatment and adult coronary artery bypass grafting.
