Implementation of a Damage Tolerance Module into ASTROS.

Abstract

This report discusses the implementation of a damage tolerance module into the multidisciplinary analysis and design software, ASTROS. The module will make use of state of the art, computationally efficient algorithms for determining the residual strength and life of metallic and composite structures with damage. The damage tolerance module will enhance the existing capabilities of ASTROS by allowing constraints based on damage tolerance requirements to be considered simultaneously with those based on strength, stiffness, aeroelastic response, etc.
